Immortal Data Inc. (IDI) is working with students at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMT) as their industry partner for an upcoming sub-orbital rocket launch.
As part of this joint project the students, working with extremely strict volume and weight requirements, are designing, building, and testing a payload mounting/attaching system. This mounting system will hold structural health monitoring equipment and IDIs data acquisition and logging system “microDAQ and ShipsStore”.
As part of their efforts the students are using computer simulations to model how the mounting system will react during the stresses of launch and recovery. Additionally, they are using 3D printing to develop prototype systems to ensure their designs will support the payload and IDI’s ShipStore.
IDI is happy to be the industrial partner of the NMT students in this effort!
